Privacy & Accessibility

How this website handles your visit, and how it and LatestArr are built to work for everyone. Last updated September 29, 2026.

Privacy

The short version

This site has no accounts, no forms, no ads, and no cookies. It uses privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages are useful and where people get stuck. None of it is sold or shared for advertising.

This page covers latestarr.app only. LatestArr itself runs on your own server, and what it stores stays there.

Who runs this site

latestarr.app is run by LatestArr's maintainer, Jeremy Shields, and hosted on Vercel.

What's collected

  • Page analytics (Umami). A self-hosted Umami instance at analytics.sctr.tech, run by the maintainer, records pages viewed, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and country. It doesn't use cookies or store your IP address.
  • Session replays and heatmaps (Umami). For some visits, Umami also records how the page is used: scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement, along with the page's layout, so it can be replayed or summed up as a heatmap. Anything typed into a field, such as the docs search, is masked before it leaves your browser. Replays are only viewed by the maintainer, to find confusing pages and broken layouts.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights. Anonymous page views and page-speed measurements (like how long the page took to load). Vercel doesn't use cookies for these, and identifies visits with a hash that resets every day.
  • Hosting logs. Like any web host, Vercel briefly keeps request logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the service.

How long it's kept

Analytics, replays, and heatmaps are kept for as long as this site is tracked. You can ask for data about your visit to be deleted at any time (see Questions).

Stored in your browser

Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage under theme. It never leaves your device. Fonts are served from this site, so no request goes to Google Fonts.

Opting out

Most content and tracker blockers block the analytics above, and the site works exactly the same without them.

Other sites

Links to GitHub, GitHub Sponsors, and other sites are ordinary links. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and nothing from them loads on this site until you click through.

Accessibility

The goal

Both this site and the LatestArr app aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That's a goal, not a certification: neither has had a formal audit.

This site

  • Works by keyboard, with a visible focus ring on links and buttons.
  • Uses real headings, landmarks, and lists, so screen readers can skim it.
  • Has light and dark themes, switchable from the header.
  • Tones down animation when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Reflows to fit phone-width screens without sideways scrolling.
  • Describes every screenshot in its alt text.

The LatestArr app

  • Every change is automatically checked for common accessibility problems (using axe-core) before it's accepted.
  • Tested by keyboard, and usable on a phone.
  • Newsletters include a plain-text version, support dark mode in email apps, and use alt text for posters.

Known limitations

  • Screenshots show the app's interface as images. The docs describe the same steps in text, so you don't need the pictures to follow along.
  • Automated checks catch only some problems, and testing with screen readers so far has been limited.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this site or in LatestArr is hard to use with your setup, let us know what you were trying to do and what you use (browser, screen reader, magnifier, and so on). Accessibility bugs are treated as bugs, not extras.
