FAQ

Is it Plex-only?

No. LatestArr works with Plex and Tautulli, and also Jellyfin, Emby, BookLore-family book libraries, Audiobookshelf, and RomM. You can run it without Plex at all. See Sources.

Does it need to be reachable from the internet?

No. Only your SMTP server needs to deliver the email. LatestArr can live on your LAN or behind a VPN. If you do expose it, put it behind a reverse proxy.

Where are posters hosted?

Nowhere. LatestArr downloads each poster and embeds it in the email, so recipients don’t load anything from your server, and no internal addresses or tokens end up in the message.

Can I have several admins?

Yes, from 0.11. Add them on the Users page. Everyone has full admin access for now; separate roles are planned in #257 .

How do I stop someone getting emails?

Switch the recipient to inactive on the Recipients page, or take them out of the groups your newsletters target. There’s no unsubscribe link yet; see Unsubscribe.

Can I use my own HTML?

Yes. Code mode lets you write a design in MJML with Handlebars. MJML compiles to email-safe HTML, and you can include raw HTML inside <mj-raw>.

Why does Gmail on my phone show the email differently in dark mode?

Gmail’s mobile apps apply their own dark mode and ignore the email’s dark-mode styles. See Dark mode.

Is it production-ready?

It’s pre-1.0: usable today, with rough edges and occasional breaking changes. Back up before upgrading. See Project status.

Who builds it?

Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding agent, writes the code, tests, and docs. A human maintainer, Jeremy Shields , directs the work, reviews every change, and tests releases. See How it’s built.

What license is it under?

GPL-3.0 . If you distribute a modified version, including as a hosted service that distributes the code, it must also be GPL-3.0 with its source available.

Where can I ask a question?

In GitHub Discussions . Use Issues for bugs and concrete feature requests, and report security problems privately (see Security).

How can I support it?

Star it on GitHub , help test or review (see Contributing), or sponsor the maintainer .
